NORTH 2020 is the financial instrument supporting regional development of Northern Portugal, managed by the Commission for Coordination and Northern Regional Development (CCDR-N), which apply over the coming years 3.4 billion Euros EU funds. The program integrates the Partnership Agreement "Portugal 2020" and the current cycle of structural funds of the European Union intended to Portugal.
The regional application NORTH 2020 will be made from the priorities identified during the program planning, attended by regional and local actors. Almost half the value (1.26 billion euros) addresses the competitiveness of micro and small enterprises in the region, with internationalization projects, innovation and research. Already about 403 million euros are for public initiatives for research, technological development and innovation, and Euro 385 million will be invested in the urban system.
There will also be funds allocated to the areas education and learning throughout life, environmental quality, low-carbon economy, social inclusion and poverty, employment and labor mobility, capacity building and ICT.
