The Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation, IP (IHRU) is a public institute in the indirect State administration, endowed with administrative and financial autonomy and its own assets.

The IHRU is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the policy defined by the Government in the areas of housing and urban regeneration, in coordination with the city policy and other social policies and safeguard and asset valuation, ensuring the memory of the building and its evolution.

The IHRU results from the restructuring and renaming of the former National Housing Institute (INH), and it was integrated into the Institute of Management and Disposal Heritage Housing State (IGAPHE) and part of the General Directorate of National Buildings and Monuments (DGEMN).
