InfoEscolas is the name of the new Internet portal launched recently by the Ministry of Education. The electronic tool allows you to view and analyze school performance indicators of the hundreds of secondary schools in the country.
The portal presents statistical information on demographics and academic performance of students enrolled in scientific-humanistic courses of secondary education in mainland Portugal.
Data for research are presented by county and district. It also provides a brief demographic picture of each establishment, with the number of students enrolled in each, their age distribution, sex, nationality and course.
According to the Express newspaper , the Minister, Nuno Crato, said during the InfoEscolas presentation session, that this new tool is for school principals and teachers to "better monitor students", assessing their paths, but also for parents and young people so that they can "intervene more in school." The online platform allows even to compare the results with those presented by other educational institutions, questioning whether there is mismatch in the grades and why.
