The General Directorate of Budget (DGO), an institution whose origin dates back over 150 years, formerly known as the General Directorate of Public Accounts, plays a key role in the field of public finance, and shall supervise the preparation, management and implementation of state budget, public accounting, control of legality, regularity and economy of the financial administration of the State and the development of public accounts.

Provides technical support to financial controllers and ensures, in conjunction with GPEARI , the participation of the Ministry of Finance in the negotiation of the budget and the multiannual financial programming of the European Communities.
